  • Keep Samsung's own home: One UI Home, with cover screen mirroring on or off.
  • A different layout on each screen, and on Octopi for each orientation too: Octopi or Smart Launcher 6.
  • One layout that stays put when you fold, with gestures over every app and live wallpapers in the same app: Hybrid Launcher.
  • A minimal home with no ads: Niagara.
  • Open source: Lawnchair.
  • Leaving Nova: Lawnchair, Smart Launcher 6 and Hybrid Launcher open its backup.

One UI Home

Two screens
Both ways. With cover screen mirroring on, the default on the Fold 8, the inner screen shows cover pages 1 and 2 side by side; turn it off and each screen has a layout of its own. Samsung keeps both setups.

Developed
Yes, with One UI. Good Lock's Home Up module added foldable options in May 2025.
Good at
It is already there, and Good Lock's One Hand Operation+ adds gestures over every app.
Keep in mind
With mirroring on, an icon placed on the inner screen's right half starts a second cover page.

Octopi Launcher

Two screens
A layout of its own on each screen, upright and in landscape - four on a fold - and a layout can be copied to another.

Free to install, with a one-time payment for more features.

Yes, updated 5 October 2026.
Good at
A separate layout for every screen and orientation. Its Data safety section lists no data collected.
Keep in mind
By its listing, its accessibility service turns the screen off; we found no gestures over other apps.

Smart Launcher 6

Two screens
One setup on both screens, or Independent setups since June 2025: each screen its own grid, icon size, pages and folders.

Free to install, with in-app purchases.

Yes, updated 25 September 2026.
Good at
Either way of using the two screens, and it imports Nova backups.
Keep in mind
Its Data safety section lists app interactions, search history and installed apps collected for analytics.

Hybrid Launcher

Two screens
One layout for both screens: unfolded, the inner screen shows two of the cover screen's pages side by side, so nothing moves. Or a home of its own for a screen, upright, in landscape or both, starting as a copy.

Good at
Edge gestures and a quick tools panel over every app, an import from Nova, Lawnchair and Octopi backups, and 18 live wallpapers, in one app. No ads, no tracking, no account.
Keep in mind
It is not on Google Play yet, and it is proven on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 alone.

Niagara Launcher

Two screens
One layout that adapts: unfolded, it can show two columns. A layout per screen is a user request, open since April 2025.

Free to install, with no ads; Pro is an in-app purchase.
Developed
Yes, updated 30 September 2026.
Good at
A minimal home with no ads, in the free version too.
Keep in mind
One layout for both screens, and no import of Nova backups yet - requested since September 2025.

Nova Launcher

Two screens
One layout; we found no layout of its own per screen.
Price
Free to install, with ads; Nova Prime removes them.
Developed
Yes, again: its team was cut in 2025, and Instabridge has owned it since January 2026. Updated 2 October 2026.
Good at
Precise placement on a subgrid, and its backup is the file other launchers import.
Keep in mind
Ads on the home screen and in the drawer since early 2026; its Data safety section lists device IDs collected for advertising.

Lawnchair

Two screens
Its documentation says nothing about foldables.
Price
Free and open source, funded by donations.
Developed
Yes. The Play version is a beta from April 2026; GitHub has nightly builds.
Good at
Open source, no data collected according to its Data safety section, and it imports Nova backups.
Keep in mind
Still in beta, by its own listing, and nothing published on how it treats the two screens.
